Air Care Restoration launched in 2026 with a straightforward purpose: be the crew that shows up when water is still moving, smoke is still settling, or mold is already spreading — and handle it correctly from the first hour. Abilene has its share of aging housing stock, flash-flood weather patterns, and the kind of sudden pipe failures that don’t wait for business hours. Building a restoration company here made sense.

What we do

Most days look like this: a call comes in, we assess what’s happening — standing water under laminate, smoke residue coating HVAC registers, a slow leak that’s been feeding mold inside a wall cavity — and we start mitigation before the damage compounds. Because we operate around the clock, we’re available when a water heater fails at midnight or a storm pushes water through a foundation crack on a Sunday. We also work directly with insurance carriers, documenting losses, photographing affected materials, and communicating technical scope information with adjusters so homeowners aren’t left translating between their contractor and their claims rep during an already stressful week.

Restoration work isn’t glamorous. It involves moisture meters, negative air pressure, controlled demolition of saturated drywall, and a lot of waiting for readings to confirm materials are genuinely dry — not just dry at the surface. That patience is what separates a proper remediation from one that looks finished but leaves moisture behind a wall.

Air Care Restoration holds certification as an IICRC Certified Firm, which means our work follows the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification’s published standards — including the S500 for water damage and the S700 for fire and smoke. Those aren’t internal benchmarks we set ourselves; they’re industry-wide technical standards developed with input from insurers, building scientists, and regulators.

Our technicians carry individual IICRC credentials in Water Restoration (WRT), Fire & Smoke Restoration (FSRT), and Odor Control (OCT), meaning the people doing the work have been trained and tested on the specific category of loss they’re handling — not just given a company shirt.

Owner Sarha Boyd holds an EPA Certified Renovator credential, a federal requirement for any renovation, repair, or painting work that disturbs lead-based paint in a pre-1978 home. In a city like Abilene, where a meaningful portion of the housing stock predates that cutoff, this certification matters for mold and water jobs that involve opening walls or ceilings in older homes.

Air Care Restoration is a Texas Licensed Mold Remediation Company (license RCO1798), issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Sarha Boyd also holds an individual Texas Mold Remediation Contractor license (MRC2262). Mold remediation in Texas is a state-regulated activity, and both licenses are verifiable directly with the state. Under Texas regulations, mold assessment, protocol development, and post-remediation verification are performed by an independent licensed Mold Assessment Consultant — Air Care performs the remediation work in accordance with that consultant’s protocol.

Where we work

Our home base is Abilene, and we serve the surrounding West Texas region — including communities across Taylor, Jones, Callahan, and Nolan counties. The area’s climate runs hot and dry most of the year, which can mask moisture problems until they’ve had time to develop, and the periodic severe storms that move through the Permian Basin and Rolling Plains can cause sudden, significant water intrusion. We know the construction patterns, the soil conditions, and the permitting landscape here — which matters when a job involves structural assessment or reconstruction alongside remediation.
